Resident Evil Code Veronica X

I had planned on posting this on the 20th anniversary of the EU release Code Veronica X in September  last year, but life doesn't always go the way one plans.

So i'll settle for passive aggressively posting it on the 17th anniversary the golden child Resident Evil 4

Code veronica is the  4th main instalment in the RE franchise, staring RE2's Claire Redfield but despite its length and budget for the time it doesn't actually get the honour of a numbered title.

It's a transitional game in terms of hardware and graphics, it started the tentative move away from pre-rendered backgrounds but kept the fixed/camera resources management of previous titles.

In terms of gameplay, puzzles, narrative and atmosphere it is among the last of the classic style of Resident Evil games, it's certainly a diamond in the rough and players, even its strongest defenders, have mixed feeling about it, especially with regards to a certain puzzle involving a canon...

But I digress, the real appeal of this game is it's operatic gothic horror narrative, Claire is reunited at last with her brother Chris and they work as a parallel to the tragic but demented Ashford twins, who are to date still the most interesting villains of the franchise.
